A soil investigation normally includes boreholes, standard penetration tests (SPT), samples and laboratory tests. From these we judge the bearing capacity and settlement, then choose a suitable foundation: isolated or combined footings, a mat, or piles. The result is a foundation that is safe without being over-designed.মাটি পরীক্ষায় সাধারণত বোরহোল, স্ট্যান্ডার্ড পেনিট্রেশন টেস্ট (SPT), নমুনা সংগ্রহ ও ল্যাবরেটরি পরীক্ষা থাকে। এগুলো থেকে আমরা বেয়ারিং ক্যাপাসিটি ও বসে যাওয়ার পরিমাণ বিচার করি, তারপর উপযুক্ত ফাউন্ডেশন বাছি: আইসোলেটেড বা কম্বাইন্ড ফুটিং, ম্যাট, অথবা পাইল। ফল হয় এমন ফাউন্ডেশন, যা নিরাপদ অথচ অপ্রয়োজনে বেশি নয়।

Why is a soil test needed before building?বানানোর আগে মাটি পরীক্ষা কেন দরকার?
Without soil data the foundation is a guess. A soil test tells us how much load the ground can safely carry and which foundation type suits it.মাটির তথ্য ছাড়া ফাউন্ডেশন আন্দাজের ওপর হয়। মাটি পরীক্ষা বলে দেয় মাটি কতটা ভার নিরাপদে নিতে পারে এবং কোন ধরনের ফাউন্ডেশন মানায়।
How many boreholes are needed?কয়টা বোরহোল লাগে?
It depends on the plot size and the building. We recommend the number and depth after seeing the site and the drawings.প্লটের আকার ও ভবনের ওপর নির্ভর করে। সাইট ও ড্রয়িং দেখে আমরা সংখ্যা ও গভীরতা সুপারিশ করি।

Fieldwork and laboratory tests take some days to a few weeks depending on depth and scope. We give a schedule when we agree the scope.গভীরতা ও পরিধির ওপর নির্ভর করে মাঠের কাজ ও ল্যাব পরীক্ষায় কয়েক দিন থেকে কয়েক সপ্তাহ লাগে। পরিধি ঠিক হলে আমরা সময়সূচি জানাই।
